Make your own wooden cutting board for your kitchen! This is a simple CNC project that includes the Autodesk Fusion360 file and the G-code that you need to start milling.
This is a great first project for any beginner - it's not only simple, but also something you can use on a daily basis. A personalized cutting board also makes a great gift for Christmas or other special occasions.

The G-code is made to cut the board from a 186 x 408 x 20 mm stock.
We used cherry wood for our board, but you can use any material you like for this project (note that it should be food-safe to use safely as a cutting board).
Oversize your stock (+20 mm on each side) to be able to secure it properly to the spoiler board. Securing it firmly to your spoiler board will not only prevent your part from flying around, but will also reduce the amount of vibration during milling and thus improve the surface finish. Check out our "Feeds and Speeds Explained" article to learn more about the influence of parameters on your milling results.
We used a 6mm 3-flute flat end mill for this project. You can buy one directly from our webshop.
You can also edit the Autodesk Fusion 360 project to use a different end mill.
The G-code consists of 3 basic operations, all running at 20-22,000 rpm with a feed rate of 3000 mm/min:

Mekanika is a Belgian company based in Brussels whose ambition is to make local production more accessible thanks to a 100% open-source approach.
We design and produce high quality machines for CNC milling and screen printing, which have been recognized for their reliability and ease of use. Our tools are delivered as kits and fully documented, allowing to easily adapt them to specific needs.
